Mobile Viewpoint, global leaders in the development of live streaming technology for broadcasters, remote TV production companies and emergency first responders, have announced the launch of its Agile AirLink Ultra 5G mobile encoder, the company’s most powerful portable video transmitter to date.
This new compact sized world leading 12G SDI 5G mobile encoder is capable of delivering true UHD with 50/60 frames-per-second that can support a mixture of 3G, 4G and now up to four 5G SIMs which can be bonded for high bandwidth, low latency and extreme reliability. Besides its ultra-high-speed upload capabilities, the new Ultra 5G encoder offers features such as a wi-fi hotpot, 8 channel audio, true video return and an ethernet SIM enabled IP data router via dual ethernet connectors. The Ultra 5G can be used from both a backpack and a camera mount set up.
Michel Bais, Managing Director at Mobile Viewpoint explains “The broadcast world is constantly evolving with the continual advance of new higher definition video formats, IP workflows, and now 5G which is seen as a real enabler for remote production and 4K UHD workflows. As a technology company we are constantly evolving to meet these challenges and introduce new concepts such as a single encoder supporting multiple cameras, support of 4K, 8 channels of audio, synching of cameras and a return video, all of which is better supported with 5G.”
The Agile AirLink Ultra 5G enables broadcasters, content producers and security services to deliver live content and video files easily and in the most optimal method possible to support a variety of different media contribution and video management workflows. Overseen by the LinkMatrix portal, the feature rich Mobile Viewpoint online service platform for remote management, the Ultra 5G encoder can provide live streaming for news, sports and other outside live events from a remote location with the choice of a cloud decoder for web streaming, or an onsite decoder back at the broadcast center or control room, providing a true point-to-point transmission without the need for a cloud subscription based platform. The receiving decoder can present live steaming via 12G SDI outputs, IP outputs or as a file-based workflow as required.
Bais continues “5G has received much universal appeal amongst broadcasters and our other customers even though 5G has not been globally rolled out yet and availability is sporadic. However, we want to ensure all our solutions are future proofed ensuring a long life and a robust return-on-investment.”
Mobile Viewpoint has been a pioneer with 5G solutions from the start with their involvement with the first 5G sports transmission with BTSport and BT Group’s EE that demonstrated the first live two-way broadcast for remote production over 5G delivered from Wembley Stadium to the ExCeL Exhibition Centre in London back in November 2018. Mobile Viewpoint continue their tests with other 5G network providers ensuring not only their compatibility but giving them a unique insight into its capabilities and what it could mean for further live streaming innovation.
The Agile AirLink Ultra5G will be commercially available as of 1 July 2020.
