Event Technology Manager, Tableau


The work of the Event Technology Manager (Infrastructure & Production) is highly visible and critical to meeting the strategic goals of Tableau’s Global Events.  This role will partner with key internal stakeholders to define the strategy behind program elements that are highly visible to our program attendees, including but not limited to, keynote/session production, demo support, content delivery, Audio/Video (AV) elements, streaming services, computer hardware/peripherals and network infrastructure. This role will lead the sourcing and vendor management of event hardware, event technical infrastructure, and AV production to deliver an exceptional experience for our event attendees. The Event Technology Manager (Infrastructure & Production) must manage a large vendor pool, effectively communicate and garner buy-in from not only event leaders, but organization leaders to keep Tableau on the cutting edge of event technology & production in the overall event space.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic plans to help facilitate technology, infrastructure, staffing, project management and other resources as needed to support the stakeholder team’s programs and goals for Tableaus signature events

  • Responsible for keeping up to date with AV, IT & production service trends, as well as evaluating & sourcing event hardware and infrastructure

  • Provide guidance on tools, best practices & Tableau standards to marketing counterparts for events, broadcasts, and in-person presentations to maximize event outcomes and business value

  • Liaise with IT suppliers to evaluate and plan for equipment and data network needs to meet content and event needs, while ensuring alignment regarding budget and scope with event program owners

  • Own event production planning and scheduling, including review of all equipment needs, room sets, load in/out schedules, and onsite support resources

  • Oversee planning, installation and maintenance of digital signage and systems as needed

  • A/V and IT Specialist – the one stop shop for the event teams (including field and teams outside of marketing) to get recommendations, guidance and sourcing help for all audio, video, lighting, production, network, hardware, rigging, streaming and power needs

  • Be an integral contributor to the Tableau keynote production team, offering guidance on production, best practices and technical standards, as well supporting the internal demos team,  to ensure flawless keynote / broadcast execution

  • Support technical planning and execution of live stream aspects of marketing events including hosting services, broadcast production, graphics packages and editing requirements.
